Keeping children safe online is a vital part of their overall wellbeing, particularly for the young people at Aegir School who may be more vulnerable and need additional support to understand and navigate the digital world. The internet offers many exciting opportunities, but it can also present risks that are not always easy for our pupils to recognise or manage independently.

At Aegir, online safety is taught as part of our curriculum in a way that is appropriate to each learner’s developmental stage. We focus on building understanding, communication, and safe decision-making in small, meaningful steps.

We know that supporting children to stay safe online can sometimes feel challenging for families, especially as apps, games, and platforms are constantly changing. Working in partnership between home and school is key to helping our pupils develop safe habits and positive experiences online.
