At Aegir, all pupils follow one of three pathways, Explorers, Adventurers or Pioneers depending on their individual needs and stage of development. This ensures that learning is matched carefully to each pupil, with the right balance of support, challenge and opportunities for independence. Pupils can remain on their pathway or move between them as they move through the school, with increasing opportunities to apply their learning in real-life contexts and prepare for their next steps. Key Stage 3 offers a broad and varied curriculum designed to help pupils settle into secondary school and build strong foundations for learning, communication and independence. Pupils follow their individual pathway, ensuring learning is meaningful and appropriate for each learner.

Across the key stage, pupils access a wide range of subjects including English, mathematics, science, humanities, creative arts and physical development. Alongside this, there is a strong focus on developing communication, engagement and personal development.

Learning is regularly extended beyond the classroom, with opportunities to access the local community and take part in trips that support and enrich what pupils are learning in school. All pupils are offered the opportunity to attend swimming sessions at a local leisure centre for a term, and those who wish can take part in Scouts.

Key Stage 3 is about building confidence, developing positive learning behaviours and preparing pupils for the next stage of their education.
