Health and Safety
Following the principles set out in the DfE recommendations for Health and Safety for school leaders, school staff and governing bodies, The Mayflower Specialist School Academy Trust believes that
- all children and young people should be able to experience a wide range of activities. Health and safety measures will help them to do this safely, not stop them;
- it is important that children and young people learn to understand and manage the risks that are a normal part of life;
- common sense will be used in assessing and managing risks of any activity. Health and safety procedures will always be proportionate to the risks of an activity; and
- staff will be given the training they need so they can keep themselves and the children safe and manage risks effectively.
