Welcome to Aegir – A Specialist Academy

Aegir is a specialist academy which offers an excellent education for pupils and students aged between 11 and 19 years who have a range of learning difficulties including moderate, general and severe learning difficulties, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, and specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.

We offer a fully supportive inclusive setting for pupils and students who have profound and complex needs and those who experience emotional and anxiety-related difficulties attending school. We are a purpose-built specialist setting with outstanding facilities where highly skilled, committed and caring staff nurture and challenge pupils and students to aim high to achieve their full potential by delivering a rich and stimulating bespoke curriculum to all of our learners.

We believe it is important for learners to achieve their full potential and importance is placed upon achievement at all levels.  Pupil/student achievement is celebrated and positive rewards are used to promote and encourage good behaviour and learning; we work tirelessly to promote the wellbeing and success of all.

Our learners are able to develop academically, socially, emotionally and physically and value themselves and others to grow into aspirational members of our community.  We foster a love of learning and ensure our pupils and students enjoy, thrive and grow through access to an exciting multi-sensory curriculum, where challenge and engagement are keys to success.

It is a privilege to be the Head Teacher of Aegir, where we are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to help pupils and students achieve their true potential. We hope you enjoy your visit to our website and find the particular information you are looking for.  We welcome visits from parents and carers, both current and prospective.  If you would like to visit the school for further information, or would like a confidential discussion on a more individual basis, please contact the school to make an appointment.  We look forward to meeting you.
